Fellow Republicans, I trust everyone had a great Fourth of July holiday. The celebration of the birth of our nation
is a special time; flags flying, parades, patriotic music and fireworks. We should all be proud of the great country
we live in and the brave men and women who put their lives on the line 232
years ago.
It is a good time to reflect on our nation’s history and
all the sacrifice it took to make this the best country on earth in which to
live. It fills one with pride and
humility remembering the blood that was shed to preserve the liberty entrusted
to our care.
There are many people today that think our freedoms and
way of life are in jeopardy. That is
why it is so important to make sure John McCain is elected as the next
President and Commander in Chief.
However, electing McCain will do little to resolve the
problems facing Charlotte County. I
believe that “all politics are local”.
The work and support we put into electing McCain needs to be doubled for
our local candidates.
In order to work through the difficult times we face in
Charlotte County, we must elect the right men and women, Republican men and
women, to do the job. This is going to
require a lot of hard work from each and every member of the West Charlotte
County Republican Club.
Volunteer to work at Headquarters, make phone calls,
attend candidate events, make contributions to campaigns. But the most important support you can
provide is your voice. Tell your
friends and family who you are voting for and why. Put signs in your yard, display buttons, pins and
bumperstickers. Let your voice be
heard. You will be surprised at the
amount of influence you have over the people around you. Bring your friends and family to our
meetings. Introduce them to the
candidates. This will help to reinforce
your voice.
The program for the meeting this month will feature
candidates for State Representative, District 71 and County Commissioner,
District 1.
See you at the meeting.
